Oral cancer includes cancers of the lips, tongue, floor of the mouth, cheeks, throat (pharynx), sinuses, and hard and soft palate. While oral cancer can usually be successfully treated when detected early, most cases of oral cancer are not detected until they have progressed into a more serious, advanced stage that is much more difficult to treat. In fact, oral cancer may be life-threatening. At our office, we are dedicated to doing all we can to detect and treat oral cancers and other abnormalities at the earliest possible stage. During your routine dental cleanings and exams at our office, our dentist and team will perform an oral cancer screening to check for the signs of oral cancer.

Let’s take a deeper look into the Vizilite Plus Oral Cancer Screening system.

The Vizilite Plus Oral Screening system is a revolutionary product that’s been shown to be more accurate in detecting oral cancers than any other screening device on the market today. The technology behind Vizilite Plus Oral Cancer Screening is based on a technique called photometry which measures the amount of light that is absorbed by tissue or objects, such as oral lesions for instance. Photometry has been used in other areas like dermatology and ophthalmology to identify skin and eye diseases but this is the first time it has been applied to oral medicine.

Although this is new technology, the effectiveness of photometry as a diagnostic tool for cancer and premalignant lesions has been proven several times over. Some of the features that Vizilite Plus offers are as follows:

Easy to use

The screening device is activated by pushing a button. Testing takes less than one minute to complete, and results are available in 10 minutes.

FDA approved

The Vizilite Plus Oral Cancer Screening passed all clinical trials with flying colors, and has been proven to be more accurate than conventional methods of oral cancer screening. It is also important to note that Vizilite Plus is radiation-free.

Fast and convenient

The Vizilite Plus Oral Cancer Screening can be used in your doctor’s office or anywhere, and the results are almost immediate. While other methods for screening for oral cancer require a biopsy which may take days to get the final results, this revolutionary product will give you an answer in less than ten minutes.

More Accurate

The Vizilite Plus Oral Cancer Screening is more accurate than conventional methods of oral cancer screening. The study that was conducted to evaluate the accuracy of Vizilite Plus found that it had a sensitivity of 95.3% and a specificity of 98.7%. This means that Vizilite Plus was able to identify lesions 95.3% of the time and that it was accurate 98.7% of the time.

Here at Complete Dental Care in Greenville, Texas, we are committed to helping you stay in good health. We are always looking for new and innovative ways to help our patients stay healthy and we know Vizilite Plus Cancer Screening is a great option for the earliest detection of oral cancer.
